South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Ltd (SLLC) is an expansion of South Lanarkshire Leisure Ltd, which was formed on 1 April 2002 to manage the operation of sports and recreation facilities on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council. From 1 October 2010 the remit of SLLC now also includes management of community and town halls, country parks, museums, libraries, Outdoor Resource Base and Arts Development.
Active Schools in South Lanarkshire is a partnership between South Lanarkshire Council and sportscotland, as part of the Scottish Government's Healthy Living Campaign. Active Schools is run by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Trust on behalf of the Council.
Active Schools in South Lanarkshire is a team of co-ordinators who work across Primary and Secondary schools, providing opportunities for sport and fun physical activity.
The aim is for school-aged children to adopt healthy, active lifestyles throughout their school years and into adulthood.
In addition to encouraging participation in sports and exercise, Active Schools promotes increased levels of daily physical activity through walking, cycling and play. As well as providing new activities, Active Schools work in partnership with local clubs to promote opportunities in local communities.
