Hamilton Sports Council's Annual Junior Badminton Tournament 2011
An annual event
Hamilton Sports Council held its annual junior badminton tournament at Larkhall Leisure Centre on Saturday 5th March 2011.
Invitations to participate were sent initially to all primary and secondary schools and all affiliated badminton clubs in the former Hamilton District, but entry was widened to include children from all over Lanarkshire. 44 children entered and enjoyed a great day of games.
The event is organised as a round robin in order to give players plenty of games and lots of competitive practice, especially if tournaments are new to them. Now in its seventh year, this local tournament has built a reputation as a friendly event and good value for money as the round robin format means that every competitor plays more than one game.
Hamilton Sports Council organised the event with great administrative support form South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture and we were fortunate to have Millar Stoddart along to provide badminton expertise on the day.
